the oxytocin floral story

Oxytocin Floral was born in 2021, and named after the neuroactive compound which described the way Isabelle felt after discovering her passion and love for flowers.

Oxytocin is often referred to as the ‘love’-hormone due to the role it plays in bonding, intimacy, childbirth and motherhood - and this was the perfect word to describe what Isabelle wanted this business to celebrate.

After starting with smaller events and floral provisions for friends and family, Oxytocin has found itself in high demand from clients seeking fresh and edgy florals that are curated and designed with conscience, and a bit of extra love.

Coming from a long line of creatives, Isabelle found herself totally obsessed with flowers and plants throughout her formative adulthood.

Working in a hospital-setting found her even more fascinated by the language of flowers, and how we use gifts and floral offerings to convey messages and communicate with each other.

Then, almost overnight - the world changed and we all had to get a little more acquainted with the indoors.

Isabelle’s craving for the outdoors saw her finding her love of floristry, and for rare and remarkable produce. It was during this time in 2020 where she got her first taste of what it means to be a florist.

She began documenting her designs and sharing her obsession, and without any intention of playing with flowers for anything besides fun - the requests started piling in.
